If you’re reading this, you probably already know about websites and the internet. In case you’re not yet aware, the internet is where you go to research information on almost anything for free. It is also where businesses are able to advertise their products and services to potential customers at a relatively cheap cost. Once upon a time, websites were simple documents that were created using Microsoft Word or other similar applications. Instead of using those programs now, people use so-called web design software such as Adobe Suite or Sketch to create stunning layouts that users can view right off their PCs or laptops without the need for internet access. Today, however, there are a lot more designers out there than ever before and competition has become even fiercer in recent years. If you want to succeed as a designer in today’s market, then you must have an understanding of the fundamentals of web design. Let’s discuss what they are so we can help one another learn and grow.

HTML

The first and most important aspect of web design is HTML, which stands for Hyper Text Markup Language. To be able to create web designs without the help of designers, it is crucial that you know how to use HTML. This language has a number of tags that define what type of content should appear at a certain spot on a webpage.

CSS

, HTML, and Javascript
First, let’s start off with the basics. CSS stands for Cascading Style Sheets and is used to style webpages. HTML refers to HyperText Markup Language and is how a website is structured on the server side. Finally, Javascript refers to Javascript Object Notation and is a programming language mainly used by web designers on the front-end of websites. These three things are the foundation of modern websites that people use every day because they are so effective in what they do.

Javascript

JavaScript is a programming language that works on the client-side of the web. It is used to create interactive effects and animations when a user interacts with an HTML document. The script is added to websites using an external file and can then be interpreted by a browser. This means that JavaScript code can be included in without affecting the website’s CSS, which is what adds style to websites. The most common use for this scripting language is in forms of animation or effects such as dropdowns, slides, pop-ups or sortable lists as it does not rely on text content to display information and instead relies on graphics.

Basics of Web Design

Web design is the way a website looks, feels, and functions. It’s made up of a combination of HTML (Hypertext Markup Language) and CSS (Cascading Style Sheets). HTML is the code that tells our computers how to display the web pages. The pictures you see on your computer screen are all made up of pixels that are arranged in rows and columns, which are then fed into CSS to make them look nice on the page. HTML codes also control what other tools or scripts can be loaded onto a webpage like Javascript, which makes it possible for things like hover effects or animations on websites without too much effort. There are other technologies involved with web design as well such as coding languages such as PHP and Ruby on Rails, but these are just some of the basics of web design.

Conclusion

This is a basic introduction to the fundamentals of web design.

  1. HTML
A markup language used for structuring, presenting, and marking up text so that it can be interpreted by web browsers and screen readers.
  2. CSS
Cascading Style Sheets are a style sheet language used for describing the presentation of a document written in an XML file.
  3. Javascript
“JavaScript is a dynamic scripting language, also called ECMAScript, that can be embedded into HTML, SVG and other XML-based markup languages. It is also used to drive applications, usually by providing a client-side scripting environment for a rich Internet application.”
  4. Basics of Web Design
The basics of web design are HTML, CSS and JavaScript. These are the basic building blocks of the Web and they are what helps to create websites.
